What is Achilles tendon?
It is a tough fibrous band that connects the end of the calf muscle to the heal bone. As is the case with all tendons it is poorly vascularised which makes healing slow and difficult when injured.
Injury can be in the form of a tear or an inflammation and many are under the false impression that only athletes suffer from injury to the Achilles tendon
The injury is very painful and treatment is challenging as healing takes a long time due to the poor blood supply. Conservative treatment offers little relief and surgical intervention shows little guaranteed results.
Recently Regenerative Medicine in the form of PRP has documented promising results. With a least invasive procedure using your own cells to promote self-healing & within a week, there is pain relief and the patient is able to return to the usual daily activities.
No surgery, No long rehabilitation, Quick relief.
So how does it work?
It’s not magic .. your injected cells will promote natural healing from within. There is also an anti-inflammatory benefit from this treatment and increased blood flow to the area, hence the quick relief.
