5 BENEFITS OF STEM CELL THERAPY

Stem cell therapy uses a patient’s own stem cells to help repair damaged tissues and repair injuries. This therapy is a part of the regenerative medicine field that is rapidly growing.  A few of the many things stem cell therapy is used for include reducing joint pain, increasing motion and flexibility, and treating tendon and ligament tears.

What is a stem cell?

Before we explain some of the benefits of this therapy, it may be helpful to know a little bit more about stem cells in general.
Adult stem cells (also known as Somatic stem cells) are undifferentiated cells found throughout your body. In some adult tissues, such as bone marrow, muscle, and brain, discrete populations of adult stem cells generate replacements for other cells that are lost through normal wear and tear, injury, or disease. They multiply to replenish dying cells and regenerate damaged tissues.
Scientific interest in adult stem cells is centred on their ability to divide or self-renew indefinitely and generate different cell types.
Stem cells act as mother cells that have the potential to become any type of cell. Every organ and tissue in your body grew out of a cluster of stem cells early in development.
They are the foundation cells and your own bank of self-healing.
At Medica Stem Cells Clinic we only use Adult Stem Cells.

5 Benefits of Stem Cell Therapy

With so many options out there, you may be wondering what benefits choosing stem cell therapy provides.  Overall, because stem cell therapy utilizes biologic material harvested directly from the patient’s body, the general benefits include minimal risk, minimal recovery time and minimal worry.

Here are 5 benefits to be aware of:

Avoid surgery and its risks and many complications

Stem cell therapy is a minimally invasive, non-surgical procedure. The stem cells are harvested from the patient’s bone marrow from the iliac crest (pelvis).

Same day procedure

After comprehensive examination and review of your case, blood tests & radio-imaging scans are done to establish a baseline for your pre-existing condition.
This is a same-day procedure, where the Consultant will decide which line of Regenerative Therapy is most suited to your case. In certain cases it may be a combination of more than one treatment protocol.
For some patients however, the complete protocol is a series of injections in several treatment sessions.

Minimal post-procedural recovery time

One of the most time consuming factors of any injury is not always the treatment itself, but actually the recovery time. With stem cell therapy, recovery time is minimal.

No use of general anesthesia

Anaesthesia causes anxiety in many people. In Regenerative Treatment a topical anaesthesia is used thus there is no side-effects usually felt after.

Regenerative Treatments help body’s own natural ability to repair itself without the use of any medication.

No risk of rejection and No communicable disease transmission

Due to using biologics extracted from the patient, there is no risk of rejection. And as the cells originate within your own body, there is no risk of spreading disease from or to another person.
